Dr. Araceli Murillo was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She attended Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi for her undergraduate studies, where she developed a passion for veterinary medicine while gaining hands-on clinical experience at the local Humane Society. Working alongside dedicated veterinary professionals and helping animals in need solidified her desire to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
Dr. Murillo earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2026. During veterinary school, she worked at the front desk of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital's Emergency Service. This role gave her a unique perspective on patient care and allowed her to follow cases from initial presentation through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Watching the emergency team collaborate to manage complex cases sparked her interest in urgent and emergency medicine and reinforced her appreciation for teamwork in veterinary practice.
After graduation, Dr. Murillo chose to make Chicago her home and is excited to begin her career at Hyde Park Animal Clinic. Dr. Murillo has a special interest in diagnostic imaging and enjoys interpreting radiographs and point-of-care ultrasound to help guide patient care and diagnosis. She enjoys solving clinical puzzles, thinking critically in fast-paced situations, and working closely with pet owners to develop individualized treatment plans for their pets.
Dr. Murillo is passionate about building strong relationships with clients and creating a positive experience for every patient she meets. She is committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care and looks forward to serving the Hyde Park community.
Dr. Murillo shares her home with three dogs: two Cocker Spaniels, Kiwi and Canela, and a mixed-breed dog named Cloud. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and exploring all that Chicago has to offer. She is excited to become part of the local community and begin this next chapter of her veterinary career.
